New innovation fund: iVenture NV
iVenture NV is an innovation fund, created on 18 June 2008, and managed by IBBT, with a focus on projects in the sector of ICT and broadband technology. It provides pre-seed, start-up and early-stage financing to allow for the formation of start-ups. Since the start iVenture has already approved 4 innovation dossiers: Mobixx (mobile web technology), Tagger.fm (instant music buying), Streamovations (video streaming) and KpiWare (business intelligence) for a total of 1 million euro. New ICON-procedure info session
The current procedure for Common Basic Research (GBO) will be substituted by our new ICON-procedure (Interdisciplinary Cooperative Research). ICON will be a continuous process with at least two calls for new projects per year. As regards concept and content, the new procedure will not differ from the current procedure. However, the new ICON-procedure will be strongly geared to IWT´s R&D-procedure. This will enable external partners to apply for R&D-support while submitting the ICON project proposal. The Belgian gam design company GriN introduces, in cooperation with IBBT-MICT-UGent, the first truly 3D social game Hot Rod Racer to Facebook.
The paper “Assessing Quality of Experience of IPTV and Video on Demand Services in Real-Life Environments”, building on the results from the IBBT project Video Q-SAQ, has been nominated to be included in the June 2011 issue of MMTC’s R-letter.
