In the picture   New innovation fund: iVenture NV iVenture NV is an innovation fund, created on 18 June 2008, and managed by IBBT, with a focus on projects in the sector of ICT and broadband technology. It provides pre-seed, start-up and early-stage financing to allow for the formation of start-ups. Since the start iVenture has already approved 4 innovation dossiers: Mobixx (mobile web technology), Tagger.fm (instant music buying), Streamovations (video streaming) and KpiWare (business intelligence) for a total of 1 million euro. Read more >> New ICON-procedure info session The current procedure for Common Basic Research (GBO) will be substituted by our new ICON-procedure (Interdisciplinary Cooperative Research). ICON will be a continuous process with at least two calls for new projects per year. As regards concept and content, the new procedure will not differ from the current procedure. However, the new ICON-procedure will be strongly geared to IWT´s R&D-procedure. This will enable external partners to apply for R&D-support while submitting the ICON project proposal. IBBT is participating in no less than seven of the new projects approved in the second wave of the European FIRE initiative (Future Internet Research and Experimentation), combining experimentally driven research and a number of test facilities. IBBT's participation in these projects is accountable for 5% of the total budget of this second wave, with a heavy involvement of the iLabs in each of them. The B-CCENTRE (Belgian Cybercrime Centre of Excellence for Training, Research and Education) welcomes the Belgian ratification of the Council of Europe’s Cybercrime Convention. It is the main international treaty seeking to address Computer and Internet crimes by increasing cooperation among nations. Belgium already signed this convention in 2001, however only ratified it last week.
